Online integrates with many other web apps that make automation possible and easier. If you are on one page in one tab because you need something while working on a different tab, if you are inactive on that one page, the odd time you go to it you could be logged out of that single tab - I would find this annoying. I haven't heard about Lag, but I have heard about issues with being logged out. Desktop, assuming its on the local computer, you can work even if youhave no internet, assuming you have access to the computer. This isn't an issue with QuickBooks Desktop as you should get a copy of a backup if you leave that accountant / bookkeeper. So if you have your accountant pay for it, they actually own the data. Who ever pays for the subscription in QBO owns the data, this is the stance that Intuit holds. You can print off what you think you need, but say in 4 years you need something for the CRA or IRS you will need to reactivate your subscription (sounds like a racket to me). Desktop you can retain QB2016 and keep entering items into it, but if you cut your CBO subscription you loose access to it. Online is a subscription basis while desktop is a purchase with an annual upgrade. That said, I like Desktop better.įrom my understanding (and please correct me if I am wrong on any of these: I do have to use it when converting a client from online to Desktop, but not much else. In honesty, I haven't used Quickbooks Online much.
